Taken during an minesweeping incident during excercise Kabul in Norway. The excerise was to train a norwegian minesweeper coy for it's comming mission in Afghanistan.

This is just an soldier acting out as a mine casualty, it's only make-up, and his leg is just burried in the sand. Don't worry.

Know what's sad? The first thing I'm thinking as I look at this series of photos: "Man, those boots must be a pain to keep polished."

I think I just need to get out of the office more. Trying to transfer into combat camera operations, but that's gonna take forever.

You're description is strangely cynical. The picture is horrific. Pretend on not you capture the horror of war. The positioning of the wounded man makes it look realistic, but the un-styilised camera angle removes any glamour, gloss or 'cool'. Great job on a difficult subject.
